TORONTO, Ont. (February 6, 2019) - Canada Basketball is pleased to announce the 12-man roster for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers games against Chile and Venezuela in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Canada will face Chile on Thursday, February 21 at 7:00 PM NST before taking on Venezuela on Sunday, February 24 at 4:00 PM NST to conclude the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers. Both games will be played at the Mile One Centre in downtown St. John’s.

Individual tickets and two-game ticket packages are on sale now at the Mile One Centre box office, 709-576-7657 and www.mileonecentre.com.

In addition to the games, Canada Basketball, in partnership with Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA), will also host clinics for players, coaches and officials.  For additional information and to register, visit www.nlba.nf.ca.

Head Coach Roy Rana will lead Team Canada and be joined by assistant coaches J.D. Jackson, Patrick Tatham and Michael Meeks.

“Looking forward to finishing our windows process strong,” said head coach Roy Rana. “Honoured that our group continues to make an incredible sacrifice to represent our country in international competition.”

“The windows group of athletes has been the backbone and foundation of our qualification into the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. I hope we celebrate and show our appreciation for them in St. John’s.”

Through ten games, Canada sits second in Group F with a 8-2 record.  Following a 84-76 loss to Venezuela, Canada bounced back, defeating No. 12 ranked Brazil 94-67 to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.

Canada’s appearance at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 will be the team’s 14th at the tournament and the first since the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China (Aug. 31-Sept. 15, 2019) will be the biggest edition of FIBA's flagship event with a record 32 participating teams playing 92 games over 16 days.
